Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One’ has repeatedly stirred up rumors related to his professional career and personal achievements. One of them was the buying and selling of his million-dollar mansions which has drawn public interest all over social media.

As of 2023, Gretzky enjoys a net worth of $250 million according to reports. Among all the mansions owned by ‘The Great One’, there have been a few which gained much attention due to Gretzky’s repetitive buying and selling process. 

He and his wife Janet Jones have lived in several places, owning six houses and mansions approximately. The list includes Gretzky’s childhood home where he used to live with his late father Walter. Currently, he resides in St. Louis to be close to his mother-in-law who is reportedly 100 years old.

Although Wayne Gretzky has lived in various places, he along with his wife has moved back to St. Louis recently. The move was made in 2021. Gretzky noted that after his father Watler’s death, things have been tough for him. He along with his wife Janet Jones wanted to move back to St. Louis to be close to his mother-in-law.

The couple wanted to be close to her mother who is 100 years old respectively. Prior to their move, the duo was settled in California. This can be considered Gretzky’s second move to St. Louis as the former player lived there during the 1995-96 season when he played with the Blues. 

He was back again in 2012 when he and Janet bought a home in Frontenac. Gretzky also stated that he is excited to be around his friend Brett Hull, who is a golfing enthusiast.

Wayne Gretzky used to live in Ontario along with his late father Walter. In 2017, International designer Tommy Smythe visited the 1950s house, recalling Gretzky’s childhood memories with his father Walter. 

As part of the ‘Great Canadian Home’ series for HGTV, Smythe was received by Walter as they slowly dived deeper into Gretzky’s childhood memories. Walter shared how he and Gretzky used to spend nights mastering the basics of hockey and how it helped Gretzky to transform into a legend.

Earlier in 2017, Janet Jones bought a house in Sherwood Country Club worth $3.6 million. The following year, Gretzky and his wife sold the house at a market price of $4.2 million. It was within an affluent gated community surrounded by mountains on all sides. 

The two-story house drew an Italian vibe that backed up to the 16th fairway of Jack Nicklaus’ signature golf course. The house has four featured bedrooms covering nearly 5,600 square feet of interior. The house included bar seating and an outdoor kitchen with pool facilities.

Prior to Dustin Johnson’s wedding with Paulina Gretzky, the golfer gifted his soon-to-be father-in-law Wayne Gretzky a $4.5 million mansion in Florida. The spotlight was busy shifting from DJ’s and Paulina’s wedding to DJ’s pre-wedding gift to Gretzky. His gift presented Gretzky to be part of another posh yet athletic precinct.

Wayne Gretzky and Janet’s 6.7 acres mansion was sold at a price of $17.6 million, a $4.5 million profit over what Gretzky paid back in 2013. The couple assigned famous designer Richard Landry to build their house back in 2002. The duo sold the house twice in 2007 and again in 2012.

Former MLB player Lenny Dykstra bought it for $18.5 million in 2007 but lost the property to closure many years later. In 2012, a couple bought the house through an auction but returned to Gretzky, paying a discounted $13.5 million in the process.
